904 Lots Catalogued for Tattersalls July Sale

The catalogue for the 2019 Tattersalls July Sale can be viewed online at and will be published on Thursday 13th June. Numbering 904 lots, the sale comprises 814 horses and fillies in/out of training and 90 broodmares, seven of which have foals at foot. Taking place Wednesday 10th - Friday 12th July, the three day sale features high class consignments from many of the world’s leading owner/breeders including Cheveley Park Stud, Godolphin, Hascombe and Valiant Stud, Juddmonte Farms, Moyglare Stud Farm, Newsells Park Stud and Shadwell Estates.

Long established as Europe’s premier midsummer sale, the Tattersalls July Sale has produced the dams of an impressive 12 individual Group 1 winners since 2016, including the outstanding 2018 Group 1 winning two year olds FAIRYLAND and TEN SOVEREIGNS whose dams were purchased for 32,000 guineas and 65,000 guineas respectively.

The major owner/breeders Godolphin, Juddmonte Farms and Shadwell Estates have more than 150 lots catalogued between them, while the 90 broodmares include mares in foal to proven Group 1 sires DANDY MAN, DUTCH ART, EQUIANO, FAST COMPANY, FASTNET ROCK, INTELLO, KODIAC, NATHANIEL, SHOWCASING, SIR PERCY, STARSPANGLEDBANNER, TEOFILO and ZOFFANY. Young sires are equally well represented with mares in foal to exciting Group 1 winners ACLAIM, BOBBY’S KITTEN, CLOTH OF STARS, CRACKSMAN, EXPERT EYE, GALILEO GOLD, HARRY ANGEL, HAVANA GREY, NEW BAY, RIBCHESTER, SAXON WARRIOR, TERRITORIES, TWILIGHT SON, ULYSSES and UNFORTUNATELY, all likely to attract attention.

Eye catching lots amongst the broodmares include the Godolphin consigned DOORS TO MANUAL, already the dam of multiple Group 2 winner SAFETY CHECK, in foal to last year’s 2000 Guineas winner SAXON WARRIOR, the well related five year old winning MOTIVATOR mare MOUILLE POINT, in foal to KODIAC, coming from the Castlebridge Consignment, and Crimbourne Bloodstock’s Listed placed mare SYANN in foal to SHOWCASING. Other mares from high profile families include Meon Valley Stud's four year old mare MERSEYBEAT, from the outstanding family of recent Group 2 Dante Stakes winner TELECASTER, in foal to the multiple Group 1 winner RIBCHESTER and the Jamie Railton consigned TREND LINE, from the direct family of 2018 Champion two year old TOO DARN HOT, in foal to Champion racehorse CRACKSMAN.

Buyers focused on horses in training look equally well catered for with an abundance of winning proven and unexposed performers to focus on amongst the 814 horses in/out of training catalogued. The supremely consistent Jim Bolger trained TWILIGHT PAYMENT, recent winner of the Listed Levmoss Stakes at Leopardstown and officially rated 109, looks set to attract plenty of interest, as do two 2019 Listed winning three year olds, the Archie Watson trained BARYS and the Ger Lyons trained INVERLEIGH and the Listed placed three year old FRANKEL colt EMINENT AUTHORITY coming from Joseph O’Brien’s Carriganog Stables. Three time winning ADMIRAL ROUS, trained in France by Eoghan O’Neill is another three year old colt on the upgrade, as is the Juddmonte owned John Gosden trained FRANKEL gelding GANTIER.

Well bred fillies also feature prominently including Shadwell’s SPEIGHTSTOWN filly WAMATHAAT, a half sister to this year’s Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap winner GIFT BOX, KAHINA and QUEEN OF PARIS, half sisters respectively to Australian Group 1 winners MAGIC HURRICANE and DARIANA, The Godolphin owned CHAMROUSSE, a RAVEN’S PASS half sister to Group 1 winner AMADEUS WOLF and the Fozzy Stack trained CHESAPEAKE SHORES, who is a CAMELOT three parts sister to Irish Derby winner FROZEN FIRE.

Commenting on the 2019 Tattersalls July Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;

“Quality and diversity are the hallmarks of the Tattersalls July Sale which has long been established as Europe’s premier midsummer sale and this year’s catalogue holds plenty of appeal for buyers from throughout the world, whatever their requirements. Recent renewals of the July Sale have produced the dams of outstanding 2018 Group 1 winning two year olds FAIRYLAND and TEN SOVEREIGNS and alongside very well bred fillies and mares, the catalogue also offers enormous choice for buyers looking for horses in training."
