Europe's premier yearling sale numbers 519 lots, all of which are eligible for the £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus scheme.

The flagship Tattersalls sale has attracted a truly outstanding collection of the finest yearlings to be found anywhere in the world, including 21 yearlings by DUBAWI, 21 by GALILEO and 25 yearlings from the fourth crop of the peerless Champion racehorse FRANKEL.

Classic winners SKY LANTERN and TALENT both have their colt second foals catalogued, by DUBAWI and DANSILI, while the great racemares ALEXANDER GOLDRUN, AMBIVALENT, AQUARELLISTE, DAR RE MI, FALLEN FOR YOU, MAJESTIC ROI and MAURALAKANA all also have yearlings catalogued.

All of the current top 20 active sires standing in Britain and Ireland are well represented with the current top four GALILEO, DUBAWI, FRANKEL and SEA THE STARS having 94 yearlings catalogued between them. Amongst the 21 yearlings by Coolmore’s nine-time Champion sire GALILEO are the own or half brothers to Classic and Group 1 winners GOLDEN HORN and WAS as well as the own-sisters to Irish Derby hero CAPRI and Grand Prix de Paris winner KEW GARDENS.

Darley’s superstar sire DUBAWI is also represented by 21 regally bred yearlings. In addition to the second foals out of AMBIVALENT and SKY LANTERN, DUBAWI has own or half brothers/sisters to Classic and Group 1 winners BEAUTY PARLOUR, CHARMING THOUGHT, CURSORY GLANCE, LEGATISSIMO and SHEIKHZAYEDROAD, as well as the own brother to SO MI DAR, LAH TI DAR and current ante post Derby favourite TOO DARN HOT out of the extraordinary mare DAR RE MI.

In total the top 20 active sires have 265 yearlings catalogued between them with the current top 10 accounting for a massive 166 yearlings. Top 10 sires DARK ANGEL and SEA THE STARS have 20 and 27 apiece, KODIAC and INVINCIBLE SPIRIT have 23 and 17 respectively, while NEW APPROACH, sire of Derby winner MASAR has seven catalogued and MASTERCRAFTSMAN, sire of superstar filly ALPHA CENTAURI, a further five.

Now well established as one of the world’s leading sires, the incomparable FRANKEL’s 25 yearlings also look set to command plenty of international attention and include the half sisters to Group 1 and 2 winners ALJAZZI, MASKED MARVEL and SULTANINA as well as the half brother to Champion miler RIP VAN WINKLE.

Sires with their first crop of two year olds also feature prominently with current leader NO NAY NEVER having 10 catalogued from his second crop, CHARM SPIRIT three and KINGMAN an impressive 31, including the half sister to Champion two year old RIZEENA and the half brother to this year’s Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint Cloud winner WALDGEIST.

Following closely is the Castlebridge Consignment with a team of 22 yearlings, New England Stud with 21 and Watership Down Stud with 20, while last year’s sale topping consignor Norris Bloodstock has seven catalogued.

Commenting on the catalogue for Book 1 of the 2018 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said:

“The catalogue for last year’s October Book 1 was outstanding and the 2018 renewal looks to be equally special. There are a huge number of own or half brothers and sisters to Group and Listed winners in the catalogue, but equally impressive is that 130 of the yearlings are out of Group and Listed winning mares, including many of the truly outstanding racemares of our time, and a further 76 are out of Group and Listed placed mares. Graduates of the October Yearling Sale have as ever enjoyed enormous success on the global stage headed by 65,000 guineas Irish Derby winner LATROBE, and the enormously popular £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus will again ensure that buyers have the chance to win unprecedented prize money by purchasing at Europe’s premier yearling sale.“

Catalogues are online now at www.tattersalls.com and will be available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls Representatives from Monday, 20th August.
