All of the current top 20 active sires standing in Britain and Ireland are well represented with the current top four GALILEO, DARK ANGEL, DUBAWI and KODIAC having exactly 101 yearlings catalogued between them. Amongst the 21 yearlings by eight-time Champion sire GALILEO are the own-brothers to the Group 1 winners HIGHLAND REEL and JOHANNES VERMEER as well as the own-sister to Irish Derby hero CAPRI.

Numerically, DUBAWI, the sire of last year’s 2.6 million guineas co - sale toppers, leads the way with his 30 yearlings. In addition to the first foals out of AMBIVALENT, SEAL OF APPROVAL and SKY LANTERN, DUBAWI has own or half brothers/sisters to Group 1 winners AKEED MOFEED, CURSORY GLANCE, LARAGH, MAIN SEQUENCE and POSTPONED, as well as daughters of Group and Listed winning mares GALVAUN, GIANTS PLAY, PONGEE, SILK SARI and SOON.

Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale also features five yearlings from the eagerly anticipated Ballymacoll Stud Dispersal at Tattersalls. The quintet, comprising fillies by EXCEED AND EXCEL, KINGMAN, OASIS DREAM and SEA THE STARS and a colt by SHAMARDAL, will be consigned from Corduff Stud and will sell as lots 167 - 171 at the end of day 1, Tuesday 3rd October.

Commenting on the catalogue for Book 1 of the 2017 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said:

“We felt that last year’s October Book 1 was a bit special, but the 2017 renewal looks to have raised the bar again. There are a huge number of own or half brothers and sisters to Group and Listed winners in the catalogue, but equally impressive is that nearly 150 of the 502 yearlings are out of Group and Listed winning mares, including many of the truly outstanding racemares of our time, and a further 64 are out of Group and Listed placed mares. An extra dimension is also added by the five beautifully bred yearlings which are part of the once in a generation Ballymacoll Dispersal at Tattersalls, and of course the enormously popular £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus will again ensure that buyers have the chance of winning unprecedented prize money by purchasing at Europe’s premier yearling sale.“
