Quality Catalogue For Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up

The catalogue for the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up, which takes place Monday 17 April – Wednesday 19 April, can also be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com and will be available from Tattersalls from Wednesday 8 March. 152 high-class two year olds have been catalogued for Europe’s premier sale of two year olds in training, which has produced an impressive 34 Group and Listed winners since 2014 including the Richard Hannon trained 2016 stars, Group 1 winner VENTURA STORM and multiple Group 2 winner MEHMAS.

The catalogue features the only colt by the Champion racehorse FRANKEL to be offered at a British breeze up sale in 2017 and the only two year old by the great Japanese Champion sire DEEP IMPACT ever offered at a two year old in training sale in Europe. The Japanese bred filly is out of the regally bred winning SADLER’S WELLS mare SOINLOVEWITHYOU, herself a three parts and half sister to Champions RULER OF THE WORLD and DUKE OF MARMALADE.

In total the catalogue features 24 two year olds out of Group and Listed winning mares including the DECLARATION OF WAR half brother to Group 1 winner BEHKABAD out of the Group 2 winner BEHKARA, and the colt out of Grade 1 winner SHADOW CAST from the first crop of the great ANIMAL KINGDOM. There are a further 24 own or half brothers and sisters to Group and Listed winners including the OASIS DREAM half brother to Group 1 winning two year old MORANDI and the DARK ANGEL half brother to Group 1 winning two year old ZAFISO.

No less than 44 of the sires represented have already produced Classic or Group 1 winners including DANSILI, DARK ANGEL, DUTCH ART, INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, KODIAC, LOPE DE VEGA, OASIS DREAM, PIVOTAL, SHAMARDAL, SHOWCASING and ZOFFANY. Top French sires KENDARGENT, LE HAVRE and SIYOUNI are all well represented and leading USA based sires also feature prominently including proven Group 1 sires BERNARDINI, CITY ZIP, DISTORTED HUMOR, ELUSIVE QUALITY, EXCHANGE RATE, KITTEN’S JOY, LEMON DROP KID, MORE THAN READY, the ill-fated SCAT DADDY, SPEIGHTSTOWN, STREET CRY, SUPER SAVER and UNCLE MO.

Sixteen exciting sires with their first crop of two year olds also feature prominently, with British and Irish performers CAMELOT, DAWN APPROACH, DECLARATION OF WAR, EPAULETTE, FARHH, HAVANA GOLD, INTELLO, LETHAL FORCE, RECKLESS ABANDON, SOCIETY ROCK and SWISS SPIRIT joined by their French and USA based contemporaries ANIMAL KINGDOM, LIAISON, PLANTEUR, POINT OF ENTRY, SHANGHAI BOBBY and VIOLENCE.

The largest consignment comes from Willie Browne’s Mocklershill which has fourteen juveniles catalogued, with Irish counterpart Bansha House Stables next best with a team of twelve two-year-olds. Last year’s sale topping consignor Oaks Farm Stables brings four two year olds to the sale, while the largest British based team comes from previous sale - topping consignor Malcolm Bastard, who has nine two year olds to represent him.

Buyers looking to benefit from a number of enticing incentives will be well catered for with 13 lots signed up to the hugely popular £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus, three €300,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Stakes entries and 52 which are Plus 10 qualified. In addition there are 12 two year olds qualified for French Owners’ Premiums.

Commenting on the Craven Breeze Up catalogue, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said:

“Racecourse results are the key to the Craven Breeze Up’s market leading status and 2016 Group and Listed winners in Britain, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Turkey, the Gulf Region, Australia and the USA have continued to advertise the sale's global appeal. The top British and Irish Breeze Up consignors consistently support the sale with quality consignments and buyers, both domestic and international, will as ever be attracted by two year olds by many of the world’s most sought after sires.”

The ‘breeze’ for the Craven Breeze Up Sale will take place at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse on Monday 17th April starting at 9.00am, and the sale will take place on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th April, after the conclusion of racing on the first two days of Newmarket’s three day Craven Meeting.
